Mid-Year Event Design Trends That Should Be On Your Radar

To know me is to know that I pride myself on being ahead of the curve as a trendsetter, and I’m always on the lookout for ways to go bigger and bolder. The beauty of the trend lifecycle is just that - it’s cyclical, and what goes around will truly come back around with a new and improved look. Trend forecasting historically takes place a month or so before a new year, but we can’t forget the mid-year refresh where we take inventory of what’s on the rise (and what simply didn’t work).

That said, I’m so excited to share what’s on my must-have list when it comes to lifestyle and event trends. Here’s what you can do to marry the two - pun intended!

Dried and bleached florals

In a turn of events that everyone saw coming, dried and bleached botanicals are officially still en vogue. We witnessed a short pause in pampas grasses overload, but the concept of incorporating a vintage look with preserved florals and bouquets is here to say.

A wonderful thing about this trend is that the options are endless, and this can really go hand-in-hand with more casual looks or even over-the-top events. The secret is to mix it up with fresh flowers to add additional dimension to the arrangement. You can go as minimalist or maximalist as you’d like - there’s really no wrong answer. Consider also springing for color impact in other elements, as your dried and bleached blooms will create a rich, neutral palette as the focal point.

Luxe, inviting reception spaces

When it comes to weddings, the reception is the life of the party. And what better way to celebrate than with a cozy, inviting space that your guests won’t want to leave? As always, I love really luxe yet comfortable elements such as cushy seating, rugs, atmospheric lighting, drapery, and more.

Think of what makes your home ‘you’ and gives off that warmth, and consider bringing that vibe to your big day.

Delighting the senses with touch-points

All great parties have one thing in common, and it’s that they’re multi-faceted. What I mean by that is this - there are layers to the guest experience. We remember smells, textures, sounds, and tastes, so the best thing you can do is to amplify these senses with your next event.

Opt for fragrant flowers, essential oils, intimate lighting, and have music playing at every point of your big day. These touch-points are directly connected to memory, and they make a big impact with sometimes little effort!

Now that we’re officially hitting the middle of 2023, it’s time to embrace new trends and revisit some fan-favorites, whether you’re looking for a summer reset for your space or hoping to up the ante with your event!
