A Sophisticated Bunny Themed Baby Shower? Yes! I'll Show You How.
Celebrating new life with baby showers and gender reveals brings so much joy to my clients, and I love getting to design fun and playful events that still have an elevated, stylish feel. For this gender reveal party, my client came to me with a vision for a baby bunny theme. I always want to think outside the box and create designs that go far beyond what’s expected, so my job was to take my client’s idea and run with it! Here are a few of the ways that I made sure this sweet bunny themed celebration was modern and sophisticated. Utilize these design tips for your next themed event!
Use a Muted Color Palette
Instead of using a traditional pastel pink and blue color choice, I kept our color palette muted. This gave a nod to the cause for celebration, but felt current, stylish and not stereotypical. We used soft pinks, buttercream, grey and taupe as our base colors, which allowed the accents of a very pale blue to pop where ever they were used.
Create An Atmosphere
Use your chosen theme as a jumping off point and consider the overall environment you want to create for your guests. All of the elements you utilize in your designs will contribute to the energy in the room and the feeling in the air. This event was a celebration of the new baby soon to arrive, so the atmosphere needed to be joyous, gentle, and filled with love. To create that feeling we used soft colors, loose floral arrangements, lots of round shapes like balloons, doughnuts, and round woven chargers at each place setting. The tabletop decor was very pretty and delicate, but we combined multiple textures to keep it looking contemporary. From the sparkling cut glass votive holders and clear glassware, to the opaque milk glass, matte dinner plates, textured linen napkins and rustic wooden tables, every element worked together to create an elevate look.
Less Is More
When designing with any theme, but especially one that is specific like this celebration’s bunny theme, remember to be sparing! Introduce your theme in a fun way, and then let the coordinating elements of your design support your idea. Subtle repetition goes a long way in creating a sophisticated atmosphere. At this events, we welcomed guests with a dramatic entrance hall filled with sweet bunny stuffed animals, abundant florals and gorgeous, modern balloon arches. After that, we continued the color palette throughout the event but only included bunnies as small, subtle accents, like cake toppers. No need to include them again and again - less is more!
