DIY Floral Tutorial: Working with Dried and Preserved Botanicals

Incorporating multiple textures in arrangements is always a good idea, and nothing does that quite like dried and preserved botanicals. Sometimes I layer them alongside fresh flowers, and other times I create arrangements of entirely dry flowers. Here are some DIY tutorial videos showing you different approaches to inspire you to create your own dried floral arrangements at home. Have fun with it!

Dry and Preserved Floral DIY

In this episode I worked exclusively with natural hued dry and preserved products like poppy pods and bleached ferns to create a grouping of creamy monochromatic arrangements in beautiful pottery vases.

 

Swans Come to Life

These breathtaking swan pieces were such an inspiration to me, providing the perfect muse to incorporate dry and fresh flowers. Swans are such delicate creatures and represent such a deep sense of everlasting love, I feel these arrangements represent just that!

incorporated non-traditional elements and dried botanicals like pampas grass, bleached umbrella ferns and even feathers to bring the swan arrangements to life.

 

Black Beard Wheat and Dahlia Arrangement

Perfect for late summer and fall when dahlias are in bloom, this dramatic trio of arrangements mixes fresh dahlias, ranunculus and greens with dried black beard wheat. This shows how you can create an impressive, sculptural look with only a few simple floral components.
