3 Winter Wonderland Event Trends That Should Be on Your Radar (Yes, in July!)

Believe it or not, summer is the perfect time to start looking ahead to winter event trends, especially as many people are knee-deep in planning their seasonal weddings. It might feel awkward to get in the spirit as we’re enjoying the height of summertime, but trust me when I say that you’re going to be grateful to be ahead of the curve instead of settling for last year’s looks.

Let’s dive into my top picks for 2023’s winter wonderland-inspired fêtes.

Monochromatic is here to stay

Perhaps one of my favorite trends are the monochromatic colorways – bonus points if you incorporate metallics! The classic all-white palette is certainly a fan favorite, but I encourage everyone to go outside-of-the-box with other variations. Plums, reds, or other cozy winter shades are great alternatives if you want some depth. Plus, it’s easy to add dimension with fruit, candles, and other décor elements when you opt for these singular, rich hues.

You can pull this off in a number of ways, even if you aren’t sold on going monochromatic all throughout the event. Maybe you want a bold tablescape for your clients’ reception dinner, a ceremony arch, or floral installations that add that ‘wow’ factor.

Intimate atmospheric lighting

There’s nothing better than entering an event and the lighting is just heavenly. Think cozy and warm amber lighting – perfect for guests to mingle, spending the entire night catching up with one another and making memories.

A beautiful (yet effortless) way to incorporate this into your client’s event is by placing candles of all shapes and sizes around the venue space, as well as intimate uplighting in all the right places. That said, you want dim but not dark; we want guests to feel welcomed to chat the night away, not sleepy after an hour in!

Bringing gardens indoors

I love the concept of bringing the outdoors in, and during a season where events are somewhat restricted to the indoors, this is your chance to really go above and beyond with your florals. Installations can transform a space, and “planting” a faux garden will make your event Instagram-worthy.

I recommend leaning into this garden aspect for the ceremony in particular – you can create a whimsical aisle with overgrown florals and even bringing in trees to add a fairytale vibe. The waterfall florals over your reception area is always a go-to, and it just adds an extra special touch when your clients are stuck inside due to inclement weather.

Keep these trends in mind as you’re planning your client’s winter wedding or holiday party; there are plenty of ways to pay homage to the season while still being innovative and bespoke with design. Their dream event is all in the details, no matter how subtle or extravagant!
